But in truth, he is drawn to the fights, to the battles - the more he works to protect, the more the stories circulate. A man of the skies, but a man of the home, of the hearth, of what it is you're fighting for. The same soldiers he once drank with, walked amongst, laughed with, now use him as a war cry - protect the house, protect our home, let us return to the roost.
It gets worse as time goes on - as the people who Sam had seen as his peers, as his equals, age and die and the generations take their place. The stories of The Falcon are told to children, to grandchildren, and as the battles continue as most generally do, Sam still throws himself in, which only further ignites them. He becomes a figurehead, though with less aggressive support and more quiet, constant praise. Those who stay behind the armies and soldiers, who remain at the heart of what they fight for, cling to The Guardian of the Roost. They know that he will bring home their families, but will also protect the homes those soldiers are risking their lives to protect. His wings take the the skies when need be, circle all the way back to the cities, the towns, the homes - just as they all wait for their soldiers, their loved ones, to do the same.
He becomes an image of power at the home, of those who hold onto the weights, the burdens, the lives of those fighting so that they may not be as heavy. It is the act of fighting even when not within the fight. It is not until decades in, possibly even centuries, that The Guardian of the Roost is invoked in more political dealings, as an attempt to bring understanding and acceptance to what would normally be tense and impossible discussions.

- sam has been flickering in and out for some time now
- because of that doesn't really show himself all that much

- facing the consequences for ignoring/refusing to use his abilities to the fullest. part of me wants to say he’d start recognizing the Danger and would refuse to use them at all, but that’s not true because they are going to end up being Too Helpful and he’s still going to want to Help Anyone He Can - he just has major issues with People Thinking They Can Become Gods and the ego that follows so he’s gonna Struggle. this will be an ongoing thing that he most likely deals with in waves - periods where he won't use them/will refuse to even be considered godlike, and others where the issues/situations need the help and he will end up invoking them
- he is going to become OBSESSED with the whole memory aspect. to the point where it’s unhealthy. his house in the horizon is going to end up looking like a multi-leveled museum where he keeps anyone and everyone’s memory of their time before abraxas, because he can’t Live knowing that it might slip away. this is not gonna be perfect and he’s going to end up forgetting that he didn’t always have His People / that they didn’t start out as family to him, but this is all gonna play into the ‘carrying others burdens or heavy thoughts’ so it’s going to primarily be a collection of everyone’s heaviest memories they want to get rid of. people you miss, places you feel like you should have made it back to, mistakes that you made but can't shake, etc.
- despite the fact he’s gonna be avoiding using his powers Too Much, his god form is going to absolutely involve wings/falcon-like features. the whole falcon/bird look is going to become semi-permanent and there won’t be much he can do. they will be feathered wings, but in the way red is kind of semi-feather, semi-metal. they will be giant wings grown from his back, he's going to have sharper gestures, and i’m thinking talons on his feeties.
- i think god wise he’s gonna be prayed to / invoked during / around tense conversations or political dealings. people are gonna pray to him when they need help finding a resolution - between others or just within themselves. it's going to be a lot about acceptance and tolerance in terms of political dealings, but also those complicated situations that involve family/home/etc.
- he's the guardian of the roost, which is - I think in a lot of ways - going to end up dealing with home, or where you call home. so he'll be involved/used/brought in when people are looking to bless their homes/places they're calling home/etc. he'll be a symbol of freedom and justice for the house and for the family, for home in the way that countries and kingdoms aren't just Politics, but Home to the people they serve, etc.
- for as much as he's going to be a guardian of home and acceptance, of carrying others burdens and flight, he is also a representation of the ties that hold you down/home. the hard decisions and choices and burdens that you cannot escape. his gravity manipulation is going to be pulling rather than crushing, that's sense that there are and will always be some things you cannot escape.
